NewsLIFE MIBA FILLER Stakeholder & Expert Committee Kick-off meeting
The LIFE MIBA FILLER project recently convened its first stakeholder and expert committee meeting on 11th April 2024. This event brought together a select group of experts from France, Belgium, United Kingdom, Germany, and the Netherlands to provide strategic guidance and oversight.
The committee members were carefully selected based on their extensive knowledge and experience in waste management, concrete technology, material testing, and environmental engineering.
Their primary responsibility is to consult and advise the LIFE MIBA FILLER project, ensuring a successful implementation of the project, maximizing its impact and to ensure transferability and replicability of the project results.
The Stakeholder & Expert Committee members are:
- Mr. Chris Cheeseman, Professor of Materials Resources Engineering, Imperial College London, United Kingdom
- Mr. Sylvain Dehaudt, Deputy Director of Intellectual Properties, CERIB, France
- Mr. David Laner, Professor at Center for Resource Management and Solid Waste Engineering, University of Kassel, Germany
- Mr. Johan Horckmans, Marks and Standards Manager, Certification Expert - Auditor Procertus, Belgium
- Mr. Jan Blaakmeer, Expert Consultant on Mortars & Cement, Blaakmeer Consultancy, The Netherlands
The first meeting was hosted at the premises of Waste-to-Energy Incinerator AVR in Duiven/Netherlands and was attended by the committee members and key members of the LIFE MIBA FILLER project team. During the meeting, the project team provided an introduction to the LIFE MIBA FILLER project, highlighting the strategy to reduce CO2 emissions by introducing a low-carbon filler derived from municipal waste incinerator bottom ash (MIBA). The team explained the process of converting MIBA into a low-carbon binder and the challenges it faces at each stage.
Following the meeting, the committee members visited the LIFE MIBA FILLER demonstration plant. The day was concluded with a tour to the Waste-to-Energy Incinerator plant of AVR.
Overall, the committee expressed satisfaction with the meeting and commended the LIFE MIBA FILLER project team for their dedication and expertise. The project team expressed their gratitude to the members for their participation and emphasized their eagerness to collaborate with the committee to achieve the project’s objectives.
